DSU hosts AI in the Workforce Panel Friday

October 10, 2025

MADISON, S.D., Oct. 10, 2025 – Dakota State University’s College of Business & Information Systems (BIS) is hosting an AI in the Workforce Panel on Friday, Oct. 17 from 1 to 2 p.m. in The Beacom Institute of Technology.

Artificial intelligence continues to rapidly transform how people work, live, and learn—and the demand for AI-ready talent continues to grow across every industry, not just tech. This panel brings together experts from business, education, and industry to explore what skills today’s students need to thrive in tomorrow’s economy and how communities and colleges can prepare together.

The event will also explore how AI is reshaping careers and the skills needed to thrive in the future of work and will feature six panelists and a moderator.

The panelists are: Matt Paulson, DSU alumnus, CEO and founder of MarketBeat; Karla Santi, CEO and founder of Blend Interactive; Tanna Soukup, CEO and owner of Strategie LLC; Kasey Olivier, attorney at law; David De Jong, DSU Dean of the College of Education & Human Performance; and Austin O’Brien, associate professor and department chair of computer science.

The moderator will be Mark Spanier, associate professor and department chair of emerging technologies. College of BIS Dean Dorine Bennett will start the event offering the opening remarks.

This event is open to current and prospective students, as well as interested community members.
